'How pleasant it is to spend an evening in this way! I declare that after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of any thing than of a book! — When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library.' No one made any reply. She then yawned again, threw aside her book, and cast her eyes round the room in quest of some amusement. — from Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen (1775-1817)

Two lovely things I read today ...

  1. Fifth Season of Downton Abbey to Air on MASTERPIECE on PBS.
  2. '...I have finally created a page to track my reading (or, more specifically, my reviewing) of Anthony Trollope and Angela Thirkell’s Barsetshire books.'
and, later, something that I watched. It's a tease, really, but it satisfied my curiosity. And I'm warming to the casting of my bookcrush ...

A little off the point but Angela Thirkell (finally) is part of my reading plan for next year. Those lovely Vintage editions. I hope our Thirkell interests cross paths!

I have been slightly naughty and watching season four episodes on the internet on Monday mornings. But the finale was last week and this morning there is a void *sniff*. Season Five can't come soon enough!

I'm counting the days until Downton Abbey! The Penney film teaser looks excellent… I may have to start reading! And anything Thirkell or Trollope (to a lesser degree) is fine by me :-)

Thank you for visiting!
