...the first glance to see how many pages there are, the second to see how it ends, the breathless first reading, the slow lingering over each phrase and each word, the taking possession, the absorbing of them one by one, and finally the choosing of the one that will be carried in one's thoughts all day... -- Edith Wharton

I am SO there.

I've been wanting to follow one of Alexander McCall Smith's novels in its original serialization since ... well, since I first heard of Alexander McCall Smith writing novels in serialization. :)

It was completely by accident {or fate, or book karma} that I found out, today, that his new 44 Scotland Street novel is being published in The Scotsman, starting today. That's kind of spooky, actually. I think I've missed the last volume or two in this series {not sure they've even been published here, in book form?} but I'm ready to jump right back in.

The link is here.

As I said yesterday, I love January.

Wonderful news! I love AMS's 44 Scotland Street series but have never followed along before as it is being serialised.

How nice that someone loves January! (Thank you for your suggestion of Bury Your Dead on Cornflower Books - I shall get it and wait for a really cold spell..)
