Just a quick note to say I'm looking forward to the Moorland Cottage Group Read organized by Katherine at the new and very well done
Gaskell Blog. Because she so kindly provided us with a list of
electronic resources to help us find this book, I will be reading along on my new Nook. How un-Cranfordish! (And how hard it still is, on this first-of-two-snowdays, to imagine snuggling up with a cup of tea and a little electronic device, one that doesn't even glow ... but I did some reading on it on Sunday and it's growing on me, slowly but surely.)
And maybe it's not so un-Cranfordish...Miss Mattie and Miss Deborah could adapt to some changes (the tea shop and Dr. Harrison's new ideas), and then there were those cow pajamas. I've been saving
Return to Cranford for a rainy (maybe, now, snowy) day, and it was nice to find out that
some of the characters are based on this book.
There are some wonderful things to look at on Katherine's blog...the
visual tour of the opening chapter is lovely!
. . . . . . . . . . .

I've only read the first chapter, but already I'm smitten. I have an elderly paperback edition, but I'd love audio so I could shut my eyes and picture the scene.
I have a Nook too, it's such a useful little device. :) Have you found GirleBooks yet? They have many of formatted ebooks, most of them Classics, available to free.
I like how you've compared the change to Cranford. Of course I admit to still loving paperbacks. I'm looking forward to how ebooks will evolve the next few years, thinner, maybe color eInk? It's already been developed.
Thank you for mentioning the group read, Audrey, and for the kind comments. :)
