So, I've finally done it. I've read my
first book on my new Nook and I think I've been converted. Like everything else, it just takes some getting used to. I've gotten some good e-reading advice along the way; for example,
one new blogging friend pointed out that it's a great resource for the classics (often available free), and for making the font bigger when your eyes are tired or just almost 52. {The typeface in
The Attenbury Emeralds -- in hardcover -- was so generous that I wondered, for a minute, if I had somehow borrowed a large print edition...but I wasn't complaining, even if I had.}
I think that so many people got e-readers as holiday presents that the availability from the library might be low for a while. But speaking of the classics, I have a feeling everyone else in my circle who has an e-reader already knows about
Girlebooks, but thank you, VERY much,
Katherine, for telling me about it. I have these books loaded up already ...
and there are dozens more that I'll want to add.
What are you reading on your Kindle/Nook/e-reader?
. . . . . . . . . . . . .

I'm a new convert to the e-reader too & I love Girlebooks. I've downloaded quite a few books from their site & I'm reading E M Delafield's War Workers at the moment. Another great source of free books is manybooks.net You can download in lots of formats. More for the tbr shelves - only they're virtual shelves this time!
I'm so glad that someone is reading Ferber! I love her so much and I really don't understand why she isn't more widely read/admired.
Girlebooks is a gem of a site.
I didn't know about Girlebooks; I'm off to check that out. By the way, you probably know that Barnes and Nobles has Free Book Friday. Go to their website on Fridays, go to the bottom left corner to find Free Book Friday. They're often worthy, and usually posted by midday. The Nook certainly has its place in a reader's life, even if it can't replace the pleasure of a true book.
I'm glad that you're enjoying your nook! I received one for Christmas as well and am loving it as well, especially for very large books so much lighter :)
I'm so glad you liked GirleBooks! I too have a Nook and although I still love paperbacks and hardbacks it's so nice having access to hundreds of Classics. :)
